About
Writer. Blogger. Actress. Producer. Director.
Nikki Yee is a way of life. Correction: Nikki Yee considers herself a way of life. She was bit by the acting bug at an early age and used every opportunity to create performance art–even if it meant taking hostages. At the tender age of 9, Nikki began modelling and acting; while honing her writing crafts by writing witty, and often endlessly long stories with chapters, appendixes and acknowledgements much to her teachers’ dismay.
Shortly after, this “way of life” enrolled in Cawthra Park Secondary School where she would eventually get her certificate in the Regional Arts Program and graduate with honours, meaning that she is, what many consider to be “smart”. While there, she began to develop quite a persona both on and off stage. She also learned how to successfully lie about her age, but that’s really not an interesting story.
To date; Nikki has worked both on and off screen on over 30 film, TV, web and theatre productions, and has invented over 50 words. Some of her credits include The Congress of Vienna, Clubbin’, Around the World in 30 Lays, UFO Charlie, and Zombie Beach. Some of her words are “incrediballs”, “amazefresh” and “fantazefierce”.
Nikki has since expanded her film making repertoire, adding the titles producer, writer, director and even choreographer to her long list of amazefresh-ness. In 2009 she wrote, produced and performed the comedic short film, The Congress of Vienna, which has been described as “better than a burrito” or “on serious crack, please get some help”. She also completed work on her second short film Clubbin’ which was received with dancing in the aisles followed by complete repulsion. She will follow it up with a sequel, Slicin’. (I’ve got nothing witty here.)
In her spare time, Nikki enjoys planning revolutions, mocking people and doing vogue poses. She also enjoys books, music, fashion, blogging, art and other things that many consider to be “cultured”. She can be a book nerd one day, and a delinquent the next, but she’s always an artist. Armed with nothing but a tube of red lipstick, she’s out to change the world, one swear word at a time. You might not get it now, but you will someday, indeed Nikki Yee is a way of life.
